The idea seemed to be great. Already at Christmas time the ice alarm was ringing out of Iceland. My friends I met 2007 in Iceland announced perfect conditions since long time. The pics they sent have been very inspiring - it really looked like the century conditions. After a couple of mails with locals Robert Halldorsson and Gudmundur Tomasson we made our final descision. Robbi and Gummi wrote about a very special ice climbing expedition starting direct from the boat. Benni and me booked the flights and looked forward to another chapter for our adventure collection. But mother nature had a good chance to come into play. At our trip Iceland was the warmest place of Europe. Therefor we tried to search for possibilities in the highlands. We even found some spots and could do three cool first ascents. But our foremost goals were melting away more and more, so we decided to delay our project into future. Nevertheless we had a great time with Robbi and Gummi and the impressions we got of this bizarre landscape have been amazing one more time.
